Saturday Storytime!

We're trying an experiment - a once a month Storytime on Saturday morning. Today was our first session - with six kids and their grown-ups! We read a few books about houses, then spent the rest of the time making very ornate paper bag houses. There were fringed shingles, mullioned windows, and front and back doors. And there was fun - lots and lots of fun!

Our next Saturday Storytime is October 31st - Halloween! Come and join us! Costumes optional!

Crazy 8s Club: About Time!

The Crazy 8s Club at the New Hampton Community School Afterschool Program had some fun this week investigating time - time on calendars, time on clocks - and look! It's 6 o'clock!
Watch for your child to bring his or her free two minute timer home!

I Love Bugs!

With summer beginning to wind down, we took the time this week to read stories about insects. We read two books with the same title: I Love Bugs! One was by Philemon Sturges and the other by Emma Dodd. Both showed drawings of lots of different kinds of insects. Bug Safari by Bob Barner told about an explorer lost in the jungle who followed a trail of ants to civilization. Finally, Big Rig Bugs by Kurt Cyrus compared insects to heavy equipment, like dump trucks and front end loaders!

Next, we had so much fun making a caterpillar from cupcake liners, pipe cleaners, pompoms and googly eyes that I forgot to take pictures. This is all I got!
