Spring brings tadpoles, then frogs and toads. Today, we read about all of them. We started with
999 Tadpoles by Ken Kimura, about a mother and father frog who must move their tadpole babies when they outgrow their pond. Our next book tells of when
999 Frogs Wake Up (by the same author!) It's Spring, and the frogs go from place to place trying to wake the other hibernating animals. In
Frog in the Bog by Karma Wilson, the rhyming, repetitive story tells of a frog who eats most of the insects in his bog.
Our paper plate was colored a nice froggy green before it was folded in half. Leg were glued on, then pompoms and googly eyes. Some added colored dots to make the frog look spotted, and everyone rolled a strip of red around a pencil to make a spiral tongue.
Ribbit!
